GLAD PRAISES WE SING FOUR PRELUDES

PHILLIPS, CRAIG

This set contains new preludes on four much-used and popular hymn tunes. Inclu de Kremser, Hyrfrydol, Nettleton and Engelbert are provided with settings that will spark interest for organists and worshippers. KREMSER is arranged in a playful mood highlighted by the fact we never hear the complete tune, only bits and pieces underscored by a rhythmic ostinato. HYFRYDOL is a graceful pastorale, with the cantus firmus placed in the pedals on a 4' stop (you could play the pedal part on a 2' stop an octave lower if not comfortable playing in the upper region of the pedalboard). NETTLETON receives a warm, simple setting that features the Swell division; and the setting of ENGELBERG is like an Edwardian march, capturing the very spirit of Stanford. If you don't have a loud solo trumpet, you can play the solo passages on another prominent sound. Easy to moderate difficulty. All of the settings are of high quality and are highly recommended.
