MEDITATION CHORALE AND FUGHETTA ON NETTL

This three-movement work features the familiar hymn tune'Nettleton' in a cont emporary setting. The Meditation is a soft movement with the tune found above chromatic chords and a simple pedal part. The second movement (Chorale) finds the melody elongated in the pedal to begin, later moving to the manuals, and i s a soft, flowing piece. Stearns successfully incorporates the tune in a fugal treatment for the final movement, with the melody prominent. This movement gr ows in the middle, but concludes softly. A fun new arrangement.
